What ESCOGE / CHOOSE means

Let’s start at the very beginning…

We need to be set free from what holds us captive in our lives, the lies, deception, manipulations, false beliefs, pleasures, etc., to get to what God has promised for each and every one of us.

God wants each of us to be free and has sent us a Moses so we can get to the Promised Land,  that Moses is called Escoge, a retreat of Mother of Christ Catholic Church.  Because of our weaknesses, we will walk the desert of our lives for years without direction.  Some of us will quit midway through the desert while others will focus their sight on God at the end of this walk through the desert, arriving into His welcome arms.  But first He invites us to pray for 40 days and nights, through which he will show us what is love, forgiveness, reconciliation and the true path towards Conversion.

ES- Escoge (Choose):  We are all called to choose a path in life, many times it is very easy to find it but very difficult to determine if this is the correct path to follow.  This retreat will provide the tools to determine the correct path and/or confirm if you are already following it.

CO – Convencer (Convince):  A personal and spiritual way to convince you where you are currently and towards where you should walk   But once you have done a deep spiritual evaluation, your decision to walk towards Jesus must be sure-footed and sincere.  Your decision can not waver between the ways of this world and the ways of Jesus.

GE – Generar (Generate):  Individuals that fervently desire to be close to Jesus, serving with Him and for Him.

Escoge doesn’t exist only for those that live the weekend retreat.  The focus is to deepen the knowledge of Catholic beliefs, thereby increasing the faith of others, becoming missionaries that evangelize His Word, resulting in sincere conversions.

 The questions for those living the weekend retreat is “What significance does this retreat have for me?” and “What am I going to do with all that I have learned?”. Through these questions, that participants start realizing the direction that God wants them to follow in the present and in the future.

Escoge will be comprised of both teachings and testimonies, each followed by Dynamics which will complement the lesson.  Its basis is from the desert experience of Moses and his people to the coming of the Holy Spirit in Pentecost, providing numerous teachings, etc. that will aid when choosing the path to follow.  The team from Escoge will only serve as instruments of God to help the participants reflect and choose their path to follow.  God always answers when we reach out to him. Oftentimes, we decide not to follow him because He asks us to give up something that we are unwilling to give up.  Escoge will provide the tools so that each of you can consciously decide if the path of following Christ is the path that you choose to follow.
